We ride together loosely through this incedibly hot and bleak landscape. The tiny outpost of South Pass City is a welcome sight and we get an ice-cream starter in before heading to slightly bigger Atlantic City for dinner a few miles further on. This is the last supply stop for 130 miles through the hot and dry Great Divide Basin. As the sun sets the four of us head out in the cool for Diagnus Well 20 miles away where we plan to camp. Its pitch black when we get there so look for the well in the morning.

DAY 10 – Pinedale to Diagnus Well (112.7miles)
From Pinedale the route heads into the Great Divide Basin. It’s hot, flat, and uneventful apart from a puncture outside Boulder. I hit a piece of glass and the tyre is cut so I put in a tyre boot and hope for the best. About 40 miles into the ride we meet some motorbikers who tell us they have seen a cyclist a few miles ahead. We think it is Alex to start with, then realise it is probably Josh. When we stop at a bridge about 50 miles into the day to grab some water, we find Josh sheltering from the midday heat underneath.
